This represents the nervous system. It's estimated that if you take all the individual nerves and joined them from end to end it would wrap around the world 2 1/2 times!

Difference in girls and guys brains

This is an illustrations of a women explaining the different process men and women go through when they're shopping.Men use more of the left side which is the logical analytical side whereas women use more of the right side which is the imaginitive creative side.

Argyria is a condition caused by the ingestion of elemental silver, silver dust or silver compounds. The most dramatic symptom of argyria is that the skin becomes blue or bluish-grey colored. Argyria may be found as generalized argyria or local argyria. The condition is believed to be permanent, but laser therapy has been used to treat it with satisfactory cosmetic results.

Brendan Adams: Boy Who Can't Stop Growing

At 12 years old, Brenden Adams is an eye-popping 7ft 3inches tall, and may not stop growing without medical attention. What is remarkable is that at 4 months, he had all his teeth, and without a recent breakthrough may never stop growing.
Brenden Adams
Brenden Adams

Brenden, who lives in Ellensburg, a small town in Washington State, has a rare medical condition, potentially the only known case with his condition. His extraordinary condition is caused by a fault in his DNA, in which his 12th chromosome broke off during embryonic development, flipped around and reattached itself upside down, disrupting a gene that controls growth.
Doctors have stopped his growth for now, in which his doctors say he would have been 8 feet tall by now. Gad Kletter, an endocrinologist at Seattle’s Swedish Hospital, treated him with high doses of testosterone to help him begin puberty early, hence forcing his body to stop causing his bones to stretch to extreme proportions.
Dr Melissa Parisi, a geneticist at Seattle Children’s hospital, and one of his doctors, said: “We were concerned that he would continue growing and there’d just be no stopping it.” She further added: “Before treatment, he was on a trajectory that was still taking him up and up, rather than reaching a plateau.” You may think being that tall and continue growing is great, but there are other medical complications that arise from his condition such as fatty tumors, which he has one in his brain, painfully enlarged joints, a heart condition and bleeding problems. These conditions could greatly shorten his lifespan. For now, he is a happy kid, and hopefully his doctors will find a long term solution to his unique medical condition.

This saturday I woke up to go to work and I had no voice!!! Convinced I had laryngitis I looked it up on the internet and decided to share. PS I don't think I actually have it but I DO keep losing my voice on and off.

Definition of Laryngitis

Laryngitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the larynx
(voice box), which is located in the upper part of the respiratory tract. I
t causes hoarseness, and possibly a temporary loss of speech.

Description of Laryngitis

Laryngitis, an inflammation of the larynx, occurs in two forms.
Acute, which lasts only a few days; and chronic, which persists
over a period of weeks or months.

The major symptoms of laryngitis are:
  • Hoarseness
  • Sore throat
  • Weak or absent voice
  • Sensation of a lump in the throat or constant need to clear the throat
  • Dry cough
  • Fever

Can you guess which is the one with laryngitis?

Top 10 Strange Cosmetic Ingredients

10. Placenta - The life giving uterus lining expelled after birth has been used in some beauty care products for years. Various manufacturers claim it helps stimulate tissue growth, reduces wrinkles and is good for your hair. Unfortunately, none of those claims have ever been proven.
9. Whale vomit - This material called Ambergris is useful as a fixative in perfumes. It has a sweet, earthy
odor and is usually found washed up on a beach in South America or Australia
. It has mostly been replaced by synthetic alternatives.
8. Cochineal beetles - When you need a nice red color, you can drown a few of these buggers in some hot water, dry them out and pulverize them. The deep crimson dye is versatile enough to be used in skin creams, lipsticks and almost any other beauty product.
7. Waste cooking oil - Scientists say that a surfactant can be made from spent cooking oil that will help regenerate damaged skin. So the next time you order a burger don’t be surprised if you hear “Do you want a facial with that?”
6. Human breast milk - It could be a gimmick but some people swear by using human breast milk to make soap. Is this something you would try?
5. Bird poop - Ever heard of a Geisha Facial? It features deep cleansing, $180 price tag, and a big scoop of Nightingale bird poop. Supposedly the uric acid is supposed to be great for your face. Perhaps it is but you certainly don’t need to smear bird droppings on yourself to get it.
4. Bull semen - Want shiny hair? Then a few salons in
think they have exactly what you need. Protein from bull semen is supposed to give amazing results. I’m skeptical it will give you anything more than a stiff hair cut.
3. Snake venom - One of the most ridiculous new ingredients for keeping wrinkles at bay is snake venom. Cosmetic makers who use this stuff hope that you’ll connect the Botox poison with snake poison and figure both must work wonders on wrinkles. Despite what Jamie Pressly might think, snake venom hasn’t been shown to have any positive improvement in wrinkle creams.
2. Chicken bone marrow - Supposed to be a good source of glucosamine but how that helps your cosmetic remains a mystery. But people still use chicken bone marrow but they rarely advertise it as such.
1. Cow dung - It turns out you can make an incredibly pleasant smelling vanilla fragrance from extracts of cow dung. It’s not just a fertilizer any more

Oh Bacteria
I found this poem and since we were learning about prokaryotes today I thought
it would be appropriate

Oh, lacking any nucleus, you do have a cell wall
You live in water, air, and soil, and anywhere at all
You reproduce by fission and you do so very fast
And under harsh conditions in an endospore you last

Oh bacteria though simple and so small
Without you ecosystems would not function well at all

For decomposing things that die, a saprophyte we need
But some are parasitic, on a living host will feed
For taking nitrogen from air, and fixing it into
The soil for plants to use, I¹m sure they¹re all grateful to you

Oh bacteria though simple and so small
Without you ecosystems would not function well at all

In dairy products you have shown yourself a cultured friend
And to genetic engineers, your DNA you lend
You even help to fight diseases caused by your brethren
You make antibiotics which destroy or weaken them

Oh bacteria, though only single-celled
A most important organism we have now beheld

Though most of you are helpful, in some of these mentioned ways
There are a few who have to do, a bit with some disease
Producing toxin or the cells attacking directly
Diphtheria, pneumonia, strep throat, tetanus, and TB

Oh bacteria, though only single-celled
A most important organism we have now beheld

We do appreciate you and your praises we do sing
Yet some of you make life so hard with troubles that you bring
Our food you spoil, our crops you rot, our animals attack
With botulism, different rots, cholera and anthrax

Oh bacteria, though only single-celled
A most important organism we have now beheld
