    OptoMap Retinal Scan
    Today, I got a retina scan. Most of you have probably had one. It was completely painless and probably also pointless because the eye doctor can do the same thing manually except it takes about two minutes longer and you don't get the sweet picture. I was just really excited to get the pictures to post here. Everything was normal with my eyes, but he showed me some that weren't. There were some with holes in the retina, ruptured blood vessels and abnormal optic nerves. It was sort of gross.
    The first one is my right eye and the second is my left. On my left eye, the diagonal line running across it is only a hair. The yellow dot in the centre of both is the optic nerve. Eyes aren't actually red and green, they just use red and green light to penetrate the different layers of your eye and to help determine how deep a problem is.

    It's well known that during period one, no one is awake yet and during period five, everyone is trying their hardest to resist their drooping eyelids because we stayed up way too late working on some take home test or guided reading for Biology. Just kidding, we love those so much...

    ONE PLANET LIVING
    What the heck?
    {oneplanetliving.gif}
    If each and every one of us lived like the average North Amercian, eventually we'd need five planets to sustain us. Crazy, eh? WWF has developed a campaign and a ten principle plan to help cut down on the harm we're doing to our planet. Reducing your carbon footprint in simple and effective ways is the easiest way to help bring this number down. Take a look at the video below for a bit more info and then head over to this site to calculate your carbon footprint and find out some fun and easy ways that you can do your part!

    Here's a cool site called 'The Wild Classroom' that has a lot of videos and articles about anything Biology related. Most of it is about the environment and biodiversity. It's run by a team of biologists who call themselves the "EcoGeeks". They travel around the world shooting videos on different specific topics. If you're into podcasts, you can subscribe to theirs on the site as well.

    Ok.. once I found out how cool the teenage brain was, I just had to find out what the brain was like at other stages too. This time I found site about an infant's brain! This site is mostly about their vision. It's super interesting to see how a baby sees stuff. I kind of wish I could remember seeing like this...
